Job Title:Asoc VP Residential ExperienceDepartment:Student Life | Administration

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Student Life and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the Associate Vice President for Residential Experience, this position will define, create and realize the future of our student residential experience, on- and off-campus. It will lead aspects of the student residential and dining experience.

The AVP of Residential Experience portfolio includes:

• Dining Services
• Facility Operations
• Projects, Planning and Space Management
• Housing and Residence Education
• Risk and Emergency Management
• Willie J. Young, Sr. Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement
• Business Optimization / Conference and Event Services

Provides comprehensive leadership and vision for Ohio State's 36 residence halls and five houses on the Columbus campus, three graduate residence halls, and three housing complexes on the Newark and Mansfield campuses and CFAES Wooster, 35 food services locations, 5.2 million square feet of space with a replacement value of $2.1 billion and oversees an extensive program of residence life functions for 16,000 students living on Ohio State's campuses. Fosters relationships with off-campus apartment complex managers and facilitates the transition from on- to off-campus living; and always utilizes sound assessment methods to ensure thorough data-driven decisions. Provides leadership for facilities, including facility operations, space planning, capital improvement projects and opportunities for revenue generation. Works to successfully manage emergency preparedness, safety education and complex critical incidents Additionally, the AVP provides strong leadership for and oversees the recruitment and development of a diverse professional staff; administers an inclusive and wide-ranging residential education effort; and develops policies and procedures that positively impact residential students and the operations, services and staff. The successful candidate will value partnerships with the executive leadership team and understands the importance of operationalizing a "first team" mindset.

The successful AVP will be an innovative strategic thinker with an open and collaborative style of leadership and management that fosters teamwork, sustains a learning environment for staff and supports a dedicated, results-oriented team that earns and maintains the trust of the university community.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree; 5-7 years of demonstrated progressively responsible leadership or management roles in higher education student housing operations, residence life, facilities management and campus dining, as well as the demonstrated ability to lead, develop and apply best practices to a large comprehensive program; proactive leadership skills including strategic planning and organizational prioritizing; strong financial and budget management skills with experience in revenue generation and cost containment; and supervisory skills which inspire, motivate and foster a culture in which all staff members are treated with respect, fairness and professionalism and which promote professional development across all members of the team; value partnerships with the executive leadership team and understands the importance of operationalizing a "first team" mindset; solutions-oriented leader who is collaborative in approach and spirit; ability to maintain a focus on advancing the priorities of the university and Office of Student Life.

Doctoral degree or significant progress toward doctoral degree completed.
