Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Aquatics and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the daily management and supervision of the Aquatic Complex, aquatic programming, and safety education. This includes but is not limited to: programming, hiring, training, evaluation, and supervision of student and part-time employees, facility rentals, and departmental safety education (CPR, First Aid, AED, and lifeguard training). Additionally, the Coordinator will assist the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations, with budgeting, purchasing, policies, and program safety and risk management protocols. This position works collaboratively with other units in the Division of Student Affairs and throughout the University to enhance the role of recreation in the lives of the Boise State community. The Aquatics and Safety Coordinator will report directly to the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations for the Department of Campus Recreation.

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
You will have the opportunity to: Oversee the overall management and coordination of the Aquatic Complex, aquatic programming, and safety education. Additionally, the Aquatics and Safety Coordinator will supervise an Aquatics team of approximately 40 staff consisting of Lifeguards, American Red Cross Instructors, Water Safety Instructors, Shift Leads, and Aquatics Supervisors. This position works collaboratively with other units in the Division of Student Affairs and throughout the University to enhance the role of recreation in the lives of the Boise State community.

The breakdown of the position duties:

• 40% staff supervision, onboarding, and development • 30% Aquatics program management and development • 20% Aquatics Complex facility operations • 10% risk management and safety
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Experience developing strong student employee teams and university health and wellness based facilities
• Experience coordinating a large staff
• Experience working with a recreation based software application platform.
• Experience scheduling facility space in a Higher Education setting and working with facility scheduling software
• Experience in event programming or management
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or related field.
• Experience in similar type of work: 1 year or 2 years as a Graduate Assistant
• Experience in same type of work: 1 year or 2 years as a Graduate Assistant

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Business Administration, Kinesiology, or related field
• Direct personnel management experience of student employee teams: recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining
• Budget development and budget management experience
• Two years work experience in aquatic operations and programming in higher education
• Experience in oral and written communication such as teaching: • Developing/delivering presentation content/materials; writing reports, proposals, professional correspondence, manuals, etc.
• Experience working with a recreation-based membership management software application platform (Innosoft Fusion preferred)
• Experience with facility management software (Connect 2 Concepts preferred)
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certifications
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operation (AFO) certification or direct experience to acquire
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification
• Engagement in NIRSA, AORE, or other recreation professional associations
• Experience programming or service delivery for diverse community populations Salary and Benefits:
