Responsibilities
Avangrid is seeking candidates for a Purchasing Analyst position to be based in our Orange, Connecticut office. The Purchasing Analyst will work with project managers and engineering staff to procure construction services, engineering service, electrical equipment required for the construction and operation of all Avangrid assets. This position acts as the main interface with suppliers during RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and is responsible for managing the internal evaluation and approval process prior to contract award. This job requires working with minimal supervision and ability to communicate effectively and influence internal and external parties. Professionalism, integrity, initiative, accountability, and independent judgment is exercised to a high degree.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
• Strategically sources commodities and services on critical infrastructure/major projects and other projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars, using a variety of traditional and leading-edge methods. Assures an uninterrupted supply of goods and services across all IUSA affiliates. Administers the competitive bidding process, evaluates, and selects suppliers based on the Procurement Services Policy Manual and annual budgetary requirements.
• Leads cross-functional affiliate teams to drive purchasing initiatives and improve bottom line performance. This includes participation in Global teams, RFP's and initiatives with other Iberdrola businesses as necessary. Centralizes the procurement function for all affiliates and solicits assistance from subject matter experts, and others within the business, as required.
• Maintains current and accurate understanding of a broad base of commodities, service categories and general business conditions. Tracks material/service costs, and performance using approved. Metrics and tools. Analyzes trends and makes corresponding sourcing decisions that contribute directly to the company's competitive position. Supports DBE programs and initiatives.
• Negotiates and awards multi-faceted, large and complex, business wide and affiliate specific enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Formulates requests for proposal/quotations/information, bid analysis, tenders, and risk evaluations. Directs supplier negotiations and administers agreements. Collaborates with both internal and external legal counsel.
• Assist with the development and management of domestic and international procurement strategies, policies and procedures.
• Documentation of RFP and contract award process and presenting award
• Recommendations to management.
• Review of contract terms and conditions in conjunction with legal counsel
• Adhere to, and monitor compliance with, internal procedures, controls and policies for purchasing activities.
Skills and Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business, Supply Chain Management or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as it relates to the job description.
• Demonstrated knowledge of "e" enabled supply chain systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP) Knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures.
• Direct work experience in negotiating contracts for equipment and services.
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to communicate concepts, data and recommendations to management.
• Excellent organizational and forward-planning abilities in order to pro-actively meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to apply analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and pricing
• Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques, as well as lead problem resolution sessions with internal customers and suppliers.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of computers and software (e.g.
• Microsoft Excel and Word).
• Ability to travel as required.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
Knowledge of electric power industry.
Direct experience with SAP supply chain systems
C.P.M., C.P.S.M, or equivalent or working toward achievement is strongly desired.
Experience in ERP systems such as SAP Ariba
