The Residential Services Worker is responsible for monitoring the activities of the residents of the Shelter to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. He/she is responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program.

The Residential Services Worker will provide direct program support to residents and work collaboratively with Case Managers to help ensure successful completion of Individual Housing Plans.

Successful candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Human Services related field or High School Diploma and at least two years experience in community based social services or other related experience with homeless households. Language ability in Spanish, Farsi, Amharic and Korean is also a plus.

Requirements include the ability to interact and communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing. The Residential Services Worker must be able to prepare written reports; monitor and direct program activities; and ensure the safety and security of program operations.

The successful candidate must have effective oral and written communication skills, be able to develop effective working relationships with other staff, community partners, and individuals served at the program. Strong organization skills, problem-solving skills and judgment are desired.

OTHER:

  • This position requires driving the company vehicle (up to 15 passengers) and personal vehicle for company business including transporting clients/residents. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.
    • Valid drivers license in jurisdiction of residence
    • Vehicle liability coverage if driving personal vehicle (on occasion, may be required to transport clients in personal vehicle)
    • May be required to drive a van
  • Acceptable EBI background, FBI Fingerprint, Child Protective Services, OIG Exclusion check
  • Negative Drug/TB Screening
  • CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed

PRINCIPALACTIVITIES:
  • Ensure a safe and manageable living environment for shelter residents through monitoring the residential areas, and being visible with continuously professional interactions with shelter residents and staff.
  • Assist residents within limits in processing issues and problem-solving
  • Monitor medication and consumption log in accordance with medication policy of the program
  • Consult with direct supervisor or supervisor on duty regarding residents personal needs, behavior and service planning.
  • Check for contraband in facility through general observation, room or package/purse searches per search protocols
  • Supervise program activities and other programming for residents
  • Maintain visitor and daily log procedures
  • Follow appropriate critical incident protocol and accompanying documentation
  • Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts
  • Conduct periodic inspections of the facility and grounds
  • Answer telephone and route calls or message to appropriate staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations and safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The physical to stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.
  • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
EFFECTSON END RESULTS:
  • Ensures a safe, secure and efficient facility and program 24 hours a day
  • Policies and Procedures are implemented.
  • Ensures residents compliance with VOAC policies and rules
