This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategy:

  • This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.

GM Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) IT is looking for a dynamic, experienced information technology (IT) Software Technical Lead to join our team of software developers to help us build out the infrastructure and provide solutions for our end-to-end product ecosystems. Must have a strong background in team build, technology, system integration, data architecture, web application development, and agile software development methodologies.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a highly technical background with the ability to develop a team as well as engage senior GM business executives and engineering leadership on IT solutions and technology capabilities. Key responsibilities include:
  • Become the subject-matter expert on the end-to-end ecosystem for an AI/ML product
  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end.
  • Lead a team of software developers with collaboration and communication at the core of how we work.
  • Examine and ensure the technology and architecture choices we make to drive the strategic technical vision and roadmaps.
  • Continuously improve software development processes, tools and standards.
  • Solve and fix technical issues involving software development and product releases.
  • Collaborate within the broader GM IT organizations on both a technology and business level, driving requirement and needs as required for successful technical delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

We're looking for someone who has:
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or related experience
  • 5+ years of software development, data engineering or technical architectural experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in an architect/technical leadership role
  • Experience leading a team of developers and can demonstrate broad technical ownership.
  • Excellent oral, written, problem solving, and presentation skills
  • Experience of working with development teams operating in an Agile environment
  • Experience influencing external organizations
  • Experience in developing highly scalable, and high-performance distributed systems, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Must be an excellent debugger and problem solver driven to possess knowledge and understanding of how things work

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in a technical subject area, or the background and experience that demonstrates a similar level of strong programming skills and practices
  • 4+ years' experience in an Architect /Technical leadership position
  • Deep experience in at least one of the following areas, and familiarity with one other:
  • Design and development of stream/event-processing architectures using technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Akka, Flink or their equivalents
  • Design and development of cloud native applications using Pivotal Cloud Foundry or equivalent PaaS
  • Knowledge and experience with application containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with large datastore technologies such as HDFS, Cassandra, Elastic, S3
  • Experience with Monitoring and Instrumentation technologies such as ELK, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Experience with AI/ML and HPC technologies such as CUDA, Tensorflow, Numpy, PyTorch
  • Experience with geospatial data processing, analytics, and visualization
