Your Role & Responsibilities

  • SUMMARY: The Process Engineer is a member of the Advanced Process Development team supporting MAHLE BU2 North American Facilities. The responsibilities of this position include the development of next generation production concepts in order to achieve the best cost-driven manufacturing practices for MAHLE BU2 operations.
  • Research and develop new production process concepts through the process pre-development phases: Idea generation, description and project approval, concept simulation, process prototype equipment design/build, pilot process equipment design/build and introduction to the production site
  • Generate detailed production concepts identifying targeted improvements in Capex, capacity, labor, cycle time and space requirements in support of cost calculations for new programs
  • Develop and write equipment specifications and performance requirements in support of RFQs and cost analysis for new equipment, tooling and processes
  • Coordinate process simulation analysis in order to optimize space utilization, material flow and line balance (machine time vs. operator time)
  • Integrate trouble shooting guidance and lessons learned from all production locations into specifications for new equipment; Apply the principles of Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) for analyzing all potential contributors to process variances
  • Perform and understand statistical analysis of process capability data taken from prototype development and create reports for customer review
  • Provide clear communication while working with teams that include plant associates, quality staff, skilled trades, management and engineers
  • Other duties as assigned


Your Skills & Strengths
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or similar Engineering discipline is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic processing or complex assembly systems
  • Battery systems manufacturing / development is strongly preferred
  • Previous powertrain experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Global or multi-national experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Proven planning abilities, including successful execution of such plans
  • Proven negotiation skills with significant accomplishments
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
