PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a data-informed recruitment plan, active territory management, relationship development, and enhancing university reputation with an objective of enrolling a first year class of conservatory and college students who are most likely to thrive and succeed at Lawrence. Along with colleagues in the Office of Admission, this position will read and evaluate applications for admission to Lawrence, coordinate with faculty to review conservatory auditions, and work to enroll the most suitable candidates.

GENERAL:
Lawrence University, a top tier college of liberal arts and sciences and conservatory of music, seeks a smart, enthusiastic, creative person who will bring a unique perspective to the admissions team. The admissions team at Lawrence takes a collaborative approach to a student-centered admissions process. This position requires significant independent judgement and involves extensive travel. A successful candidate takes initiative for territory management and recruitment goals, helping to build a bright, talented, and diverse student body. This position contributes to the greater institutional mission to prepare students for lifelong learning, meaningful citizenship, personal fulfillment and lives of achievement in a diverse learning community.

DUTIES:
1. Develop and implement a data-informed and strategic recruitment plan for assigned instrument/studio territory (conservatory) and geographical territory (college). Plan and conduct high school visits, college fairs, workshops, prospective student interviews and virtual activities. Travel of 6-8 weeks per year is expected.
2. Read and review first year applications for admission to Lawrence. Using a holistic review process, evaluate and select applications for admissions and merit scholarships. Serve as liaison between admissions office and conservatory faculty in obtaining audition scores and determining admissions decisions for conservatory applicants.
3. Advise and counsel prospective students and their families about Lawrence, the admission process, and financial aid virtually, in person, on the phone or through electronic communications.
4. Contribute to on and off campus programming, including delivering information sessions, interviewing prospective students, hosting auditions, and coordinating sample music lessons.
5. Manage a number of independent admission counselor projects, utilizing data sources for planning and implementation.
6. Exercise independent and professional judgement in all work, including recruitment and travel planning and application review. Steward university resources appropriately and maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
7. Cultivate and maintain relationships with school-based counselors, independent counselors, music teachers, music organizations, and college access organizations.
8. Participate in work groups or projects as assigned.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Work collaboratively with staff and faculty as well as prospective students, their families, current students, alumni, school counselors, and independent counselors from a variety of backgrounds.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Valid driving license.
3. Demonstrated understanding of conservatory and music training.
4. Demonstrated cultural competencies and working knowledge of diversity and inclusion concepts to help create a welcoming home for all students.
5. Exceptional communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and attention to detail.
7. Ability to work with minimum direction and supervision while also collaborating with and contributing to a team.
8. Ability to explain and market a liberal arts education.
9. Experience with database systems and Excel preferred.
10. Collegiate recruitment, college access, or related experience preferred.
11. Willingness to work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, and to travel extensively when the conditions are safe to do so.
