Position Summary
The Barowsky School of Business is seeking two part-time instructors to teach Healthcare Executive MBA program courses during the summer of 2024.


Responsibilities

  • Teach a three-unit course at the graduate level
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
  • Instructors are required to work with the School to complete assessments of their course for AACSB Assurance of Learning purposes

  • Course Description

  • MBAH 5405.1 Global Healthcare Policy (June24-August 10, 2024; online on Thursdays from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and in-person on four Saturdays from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm) This course examines approaches to global public healthcare policy in the developed and developing world contexts. This course will explore the major determinants of morbidity and mortality across nations including basic public health infrastructure, education policy, health system quality, appropriate technology use, gender issues, and freedoms. These issues will be analyzed both on a macro level and on a personal level, recognizing that policy exists for people and communities rather than for economic growth per se.
  • MBAH 5402.1 - Marketing Management for Value Creation in Healthcare (May 13-June 22, 2024; online on Thursdays from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and in-person on four Saturdays from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm) This course examines the principles of marketing management and strategic marketing decision-making in a healthcare setting. Instruction focuses on the marketing environment, the competitive challenges of changing market structures, business ethics, sustainability, and the tools that today’s marketing manager needs to manage and mitigate risk in both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Students will examine the components of the strategic marketing mix as it applies to the healthcare sector and adapt it to various business functions including value creation, market segmentation, consumer behavior, product development, marketing infrastructure, and marketing research.

  • Required Qualifications (for MBAH 5405.1 Global Healthcare Policy)
  • Master’s degree in business with a focus on marketing.
  • Experience with marketing in the healthcare sector
  • Experience teaching graduate marketing courses
  • Must be a California resident.

  • Preferred Qualifications (for MBAH 5405.1 Global Healthcare Policy)
  • Ph.D. in business with a focus on marketing
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
