Actuarial Analyst Assistant I or II
Seattle, WA or Portland, OR

The Actuarial Analyst Assistant I or II is responsible for proactively managing and retrospectively tracking and reporting on the financial and risk positions within the company, and supporting the strategic goals of the corporation. Within that context, the Assistant Actuarial Analyst performs technical, analytical, and support functions to help the division and the company meet its goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides actuarial support to any or all divisions of the organization.
  • Supplies timely and accurate research, analysis, and recommendations with respect to rate calculations and filings, benefit pricing, internal and external financial reporting, reserving, forecasting, and experience analysis.
  • Assembles various data and reports.
  • Assists with new product development.
  • Performs acceptance testing of new reports, programs, and models.
  • Completes renewals and filings.
  • Develops methodologies and approaches to new tasks and projects.
  • Develops an understanding of regulatory (both state and federal) agency policies and procedures and assists in interpreting legislation and regulations.
  • Performs research and analysis aimed at building knowledge of how various departments within the corporation work together to make the company run effectively.
  • Actively participates in the division's peer review processes.
  • May assist, train, and learn from other team members.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Keen analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Business sense (finance, accounting, economics, risk management).
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, statistical analysis, database).
  • Ability to work independently.
Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, computer science or an equivalent related field and at least one year job-related work experience or equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.

The Assistant Actuarial Analyst II would have a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics or computer science and at least two years of job-related work experience or an equivalent related field or equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.
