Description:
Under direct supervision, performs the daily billing, correspondence and collection functions for all home medical equipment accounts, and assures work procedures necessary to provide timely and accurate billing to facilitate timely receipt of payments from payors.

What you will do:
  • Processes and maintains clinical and billing records from admission through discharge.
  • Assures complete and accurate documentation to ensure timely billing of accounts.
  • Compiles care plan and CMN documentation for data entry. As necessary, inputs, distributes and track 485's.
  • Enters data into software systems appropriate for the accounts from the business line being processed. All information entry is to be accurate and in accordance with specific payor requirements.
  • Retrieves data for and assists in the preparation and distribution of business/progress reports for the department (including reconciliation of verification reports according to established timeframes).
  • Monitors open claims and the overall A/R aging report.
  • Posts and balances payments to accounts, reconciles all cash posted amounts with printed EOB's.
  • Actively participates in meetings, committees, conferences, in-services and assists in the orientation of new staff members
  • Uses effective communication to facilitate and communicate information necessary to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

What we are looking for:
  • High school graduate, diploma required. A minimum of one year post high school related course work preferred. Associates degree in business related field preferred.
  • Requires an aptitude for figures and a meticulous approach to detail.
  • Requires a minimum of 1-2 years billing experience in a health care environment, with at least one year of Medicare billing experience.
  • Must have prior experience with insurance verification, healthcare benefits assessment and paperwork and documentation for billing Medicare/Medicaid and commercial insurances. Durable medical equipment (DME) billing and collections experience desirable.
  • Must have knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic codes and HCPC Codes.
  • Demonstrates aggressive desire to maximize return of home medical equipment accounts.
  • Requires excellent communication an interpersonal skill.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.
