Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that adequate resources and capability (people and processes) reside within the business to deliver on the financial and non-financial targets by managing business relationships with customers / accounts (current customers and new prospects) especially strategic customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and execute Account/Customer plans aligned with Regional/Global Segment and Marketing plan, if applicable
  • Develop relevant Commercial pipeline for respective accounts
  • Deliver the agreed financial and non-financial targets in line with business budgets
  • Drive innovation through customers
  • Develop and maintain contact map within each account - at all reporting level and across all functions
  • Drive Continuous Improvement across the organization to generate value to customers - Forecast, Service, Capability, Efficiency and Productivity
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including relevant teams at the key accounts to prioritize new developments, make plans for trials, etc.
  • Provide support and leadership to sales, customer services and technical teams by showing vision, putting in resources to ensure high service levels and operational efficiency
  • Steward new business development projects opposite account requirements
  • Independently prepare sales presentations, contracts and proposals to ensure successful outcome of transactions
  • Manage negotiations to mitigate claims

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field. Relative experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • 3 years' experience in commercial roles, sales and key account management, or sales to strategic accounts in paints and coatings or related business-to-business industry
  • Ability to learn and understand products and their application. Must be able to troubleshoot issues
  • Must possess commercial and business acumen as well as an understanding of cross functional processes and financial concepts related to sales and cost to serve
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective project management skills. Must be able to manage stakeholders
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to create value propositions
  • Must be driven and results-oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software preferred
  • Ability to travel 30%. Some overnight travel will be required to include 1-2 nights per week

  • Employee Benefits: This position is a full-time opportunity with AkzoNobel with employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment.
  • Compensation: This position will receive an annual base salary and is eligible for an annual 35% bonus.
  • Vehicle: This position will be assigned a company vehicle.
